Mobile And Charger Custom Duty: Union Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has presented the budget in Parliament. During the budget speech, she talked about reducing the prices of mobile phones and chargers. She said that the government has reduced the custom duty on mobiles and chargers from 20% to 15%. This means that now people will have to pay 5% less on the purchase of mobiles and chargers. In such a situation, the question must be arising in your mind that after the reduction of 5%, for how much rupees the phone and charger can be purchased. Let us know about this.
Suppose the phone you are about to buy costs 20 thousand rupees. Earlier, 20% duty was levied on it. That means after 4 thousand rupees custom duty is levied on 20 thousand rupees, the price of this phone becomes 24000 rupees. But now 5% has been deducted. That means 15% custom duty will be levied on a 20 thousand rupees phone. In such a situation, if 15% custom duty is levied on 20 thousand rupees, then it becomes 3 thousand rupees. This means that the price of your phone will become 23 thousand rupees. The important thing is that the phone for which you had to pay 24 thousand rupees, now you will have to pay 23 thousand rupees to buy it. That means you will save one thousand rupees.
How much will I get the charger for?
Like mobile phones, now 15% custom duty will be levied on chargers as well. Suppose if your charger costs 1 thousand rupees. If 20% custom duty is levied on it then 20% of 1000 rupees becomes 200 rupees. That is, you had to spend 1200 rupees for a charger. But now according to 15% custom duty, you will have to spend 1150 rupees. Overall, a customer buying a phone worth 20 thousand rupees will get a benefit of 1000 rupees and buying a charger worth 1 thousand rupees will get a benefit of 50 rupees.
